CPL Aromas participated in the Notes Shanghai 2026 Autumn Edition held at the West Bund International Convention and Exhibition Center from October 14–17. The event’s theme, “Another Way”, encouraged the fragrance industry to explore innovative directions.
Attended by over 200 brands from more than 30 countries, the gathering promoted a departure from conventional trends. CPL Aromas showcased an olfactive journey intertwining nature, cultural heritage, and fragrance technology.
Shinrin-yoku: A Forest Immersion Through Scent
At the core of CPL Aromas’ exhibit was the Shinrin-yoku collection, drawing inspiration from the Japanese practice of forest bathing. This concept integrated three proprietary technologies: AromaHydro™, AromaWellness™, and AromaSpace™.
The display featured botanical greenery and moss-inspired elements, extending the forest motif beyond fragrance. It sought to evoke the textures, atmosphere, and emotions of a forest, reflecting a rising interest in place-based fragrances.
Reimagining the Tang Dynasty Through Scent
Guided by the event’s theme, CPL Aromas Perfumer Chung drew inspiration from the Tang Dynasty for a new collection. The process involved identifying symbols, stories, and cultural references from the era and translating them into modern fragrance.

The collection explored themes such as peonies symbolizing wealth, foreign wines introduced via the Silk Road, and poetry inspired by the moon. These elements crafted a portrayal of an era characterized by cultural exchange and creativity.
The collection reinterpreted history through a contemporary sensory approach, using familiar elements as creative foundations. This method embodied the “Another Way” ethos, transforming traditional references into novel experiences.
AromaSpace™: Capturing Experiences Beyond Ingredients
Technology was central to CPL Aromas’ presentation. Perfumer Elise Pierre introduced AromaSpace™, a technique combining headspace analysis with perfumer expertise to recreate authentic natural experiences.
Two new additions to the AromaSpace™ palette were showcased: Pink Guava AromaSpace™ and Champagne AromaSpace™. Pink Guava captures the sensory essence of fresh guava, while Champagne translates the ephemeral moment of opening a bottle into a fragrant experience.
From forest atmospheres to cultural narratives, CPL Aromas demonstrated that the future of perfumery is not confined to a single path. “Another Way” can emerge from reinterpreting the world and translating those experiences into scent.
